LUDOVICA Founder Namastribe

A bit of my life and what guided me to create Namastribe

August 23, 2024

Hi, I'm Ludovica, the founder of Namastribe and a citizen of planet Earth. This is a brief glimpse into my journey and my deep connection with nature and spirituality—both of which have saved my life more than once.

From a young age, I’ve been driven to challenge what I perceive as unfair or unjust. I organized my first protest at the age of seven when I returned to school in the second grade, only to find that my favorite teacher had been replaced without any notice to us children. Many of us were upset, and I felt compelled to act.

My childhood was not without its difficulties, largely due to external circumstances. I learned about suffering at an early age, and whenever I sought comfort, I found myself drawn to nature and spirituality. In nature, I discovered peace and a connection to my true self, along with a sense of loving protection that helped me navigate difficult times.

This deep connection with nature, combined with my strong sense of justice, led me to pursue studies in sustainability and development.

At 18, I took up surfing, which fueled my desire to escape and led me on extended journeys to places like Australia, Latin America, Mauritius, and Bali. Living off the grid and immersing myself in local cultures, I observed how people in these remote areas, despite having fewer material possessions, were less stressed and happier due to their close connection with nature and strong community bonds. These experiences not only enriched my personal development but also allowed me to test my academic studies on the applicability of Western sustainability concepts in the Global South—a topic I explored in my thesis.

My path of self-discovery was profoundly shaped by the various cultures and philosophies I encountered during my travels. I was especially captivated by yoga philosophy, and since 21 yo,I fully embraced it and incorporated it into my daily life.

After four years of yoga practice, I went to India in 2017 and became a yoga teacher.

This journey opened doors to new worlds of knowledge and traditions, new teachers and friends. I returned to India a year later and still today continue to study and train to deepen my knowledge in yoga philosophy and the neuroscience of breath and meditation.

When I returned to Europe, I began teaching yoga occasionally while working for a recycling business. However, the bureaucracy and logistics, combined with the 40-minute commute, left me feeling depressed and anxious. I questioned whether I was truly contributing to a better world and whether this work aligned with my values and purpose. When the pandemic hit, I lost my job. Though initially ashamed to admit it, I felt relieved because I knew that the job didn’t reflect who I was or what I aimed to achieve.

During the COVID lockdown, I returned to my hometown, nestled between the sea and the mountains—a place where you can surf, climb, and ski all in one day. I was fortunate to spend this time with my boyfriend and a few like-minded friends, escaping into nature whenever we could.

As we watched nature regenerate during the lockdown, I realized once again how much it helped me reconnect with my true self, even in the midst of unemployment and a global pandemic.

Being active in sports, practicing yoga, and immersing myself in nature made me more aware of my body, thoughts, and potential. We realized  that our lifestyle brought us happiness, and we knew many others were seeking a similar connection with nature and themselves but didn’t know where to start or lacked the right company.

This is how Namastribe was born: we reached out to friends in the outdoor community and began organizing outdoor adventures, trying to turn our passions for outdoor sports and yoga into a fulfilling job.

Over the past three years, I returned to Barcelona, continuing to organize community experiences while deepening my commitment to yoga and personal growth.

The journey with Namastribe has been amazing. We've built a community of outdoor enthusiasts who value stepping out of their comfort zones and embracing each other's uniqueness.

Starting a business from scratch is challenging—you need to stay focused on your goals, identify who will truly support you, learn new skills, invest time and money, all without any guarantee of success. Working with nature, especially with a desire to protect it, often means balancing profit with environmental ideals.

Fortunately to maintain me focus to my own values and motivation I had the gift from the universe of having yoga as my tool and spirituality as my anchor.

As I searched deeper into my studies and practice—Yin yoga, ice baths, and breathwork techniques—I discovered that I was gathering powerful tools to help others reconnect with their wild side and true selves.

For me, personal growth and spirituality, as well as outdoor sports and connecting with nature, are a passion, a new perspective, a way to discover more about the world and myself.

And as Gandhi said, "Be the change you wish to see in the world."

Namastribe is evolving alongside me and the community it nurtures. While it remains rooted in a deep connection to nature and outdoor sports, it now also embraces a shared purpose of self-discovery and personal growth.

And I can’t be happier or more fulfilled than knowing I have helped someone reconnect with nature, disconnect from their stressful thoughts, and start changing their perspective on the enjoyment of life.
